Ading’s Gourmet Tuyo: A Negrense recipe handed from generations

Posted By: Patti Salas - Friday, September 16, 2016

Ading’s Gourmet Tuyo is not your ordinary gourmet tuyo. Chef April shared the story behind the first shredded gourmet tuyo I have tried. She said that her Lola has always been very hands-on. When they were still little, every time they would harvest watermelons in their farm, her Lola would take out the seeds for them so that they can eat at ease. The same thing goes when they eat tuyo. It was originally her Lola’s recipe and it was always present in their family gatherings. Since her mom loves capers and olives, Chef April tried to add the said ingredients to her Lola’s recipe. Eventually, her friends told her “Why not put it in a bottle and sell it?” That gave birth to Ading’s Gourmet Tuyo. She worked on the product’s packaging and treats that as her main contribution for the coming about of Ading’s Gourmet Tuyo. Chef April is confident enough to say that it doesn’t contain any preservatives.

Being both a Lacson and a Gonzaga, Chef April confessed to be a certified foodie. She owns restaurants where she displays her products. She’s very proud to say that all her products are authentic family recipes. Her latest is the Chorizo de Gonzaga which is her Tita’s recipe.

Ading’s Gourmet Tuyo is now on its 3rd year. You can choose between regular and spicy variants. Chef April suggested ways on how customers can enjoy her Gourmet Tuyo. She said that it’s actually good with pasta, salad, and toasted crostini. However, she still thinks that it’s best with rice – the most Pinoy way of eating it.  Ading’s Gourmet Tuyo can also serve as an appetizer. Chef April said that you can spread it on French bread and add kesong puti for it to be like a Pinoy Canapé.

This is Chef April’s 2nd year in The Negros Trade Fair. She’s very proud of her Gourmet Tuyo which has already won 2 awards. It won the Savor Negrense Award at the Panaad sa Negros Festival 2015 where 19 municipalities and 13 cities joined and only one winner was declared and that is Ading’s Gourmet Tuyo. It was also acknowledged as the grand winner for the deli category of the 26th Bulawan Awards of the Association of Negros Producers in August 2016.

Most popular: Google’s Top 10 Youtube Ads for the first half of 2016

Posted By: Karlo Simon - Wednesday, August 03, 2016
Over the past years, it cannot be denied that advertisement has played a major role in our society. It serves as a form of entertainment, as well as life guru for the lessons that can be gleaned from it.

On Wednesday, July 27, Google announced its “Youtube Ads Leaderboard” in the Philippines for the first half of 2016. It gave recognition to the top 10 brands whose ads caught the interest of Filipino viewers. Likewise, this event served as an avenue for Google to enlighten the Filipino community, especially the ones in social media, of how online video can ignite a massive cycle of global innovation.

With a storyline that portrays a mother’s unconditional love, Nido’s A Mommy’s Sacrifice topped the leadboard. This animated short film of Nido Fortigrow served as a present to all the mothers for Mother’s Day. Advertisement like this is more prevalent in this country because Filipinos have a high regard for a close family lifestyle, and love for local celebrities and music.

Google highlighted various key trends that are present to all the ads that made it to the leadboard:

1. Most of the ads were Filipino-produced. This is the second time that local ads dominated the leadboard. It proves that ads which depict the local culture and values are more emotionally appealing and relatable to Filipino audience.
2. Seven out of ten ads were more than 30 seconds. This shows that brands are going longform storytelling, which give them opportunity to amplify audiences’ emotional engagement more.
3. Half of the ads in the leadboard have children-centric theme. Some of these ads are Bonakid’s Pre-School 3+ and Downy’s Sofia’s Fan.

Here is the complete list:
1. Nido for A Mommy’s Sacrifice | NIDO FORTIGROW | Nestlé PH
2. Bonakid for Bonakid Pre-School 3+ TVC
3. McDonalds for Tuloy Pa Rin
4. Downy for Sofia’s Fan | DOWNY Rubadubango
5. Bear Brand for SIDE A 30s TVC| BEAR BRAND Choco Milk Drink | Nestle PH
6. Whisper for Whisper All Day No Check!
7. Tide for Tide! Todo-puti na kagulat-gulat! #TideTodoPuti
8. Milo for #MomsNeverGiveUp Full Version | MILO | Nestlé PH
9. Nescafe for When Minutes Turn Into Moments
10. Knorr for “Sabaw at Pagsasama” (A Knorr Short FiIm)

Posted By: Admin - Thursday, March 05, 2015
PHD has kicked off a series of activity, to run throughout 2015, marking the 25 year anniversary since the agency launched its first office in London.

To celebrate the talent that has shaped the agency over the years, PHD will be inviting those that have worked for and with PHD, past and present, to leave a message on the microsite phdat25.com.

The online ’25 Yearbook’ features videos of highlights from 25 people that have shaped PHD’s history – from the original founders and PHD’s very first employees, through to clients and the leadership of today. In the spirit of the anniversary, those featured have shared photos of themselves from 25 years ago.

The 25 featured on the site include the co-founders David Pattison, Nick Horswell and Jonathan Durden, who talk about how the launch of PHD offered clients a whole new way of looking at media. PHD’s creative and strategic planning proposition at launch was in stark contrast to the competition, which focused solely on buying, leading to a new era of creative comms planning.

Founding client Guardian Newspapers is still a client today and the site features Carolyn McCall, the now CEO of EasyJet, sharing her memories of appointing PHD back in 1990 when she was CEO of Guardian Newspapers. Unilever’s chief marketing and communications officer Keith Weed gives a current client perspective and talks about how PHD continues to lead the way in strategic communications planning on today’s global stage.

Alumni featured include Tess Alps, chair of Thinkbox; Ed Castillo, chief strategy officer at TBWA Worldwide; Jon Wilkins, chairman of Karmarama; David Wilding, director of planning at Twitter; Kathleen Saxton, founder of The Lighthouse and Mark Sands, chief marketing officer at Christies.
Mike Cooper, CEO of PHD Worldwide said “PHD has a very special heritage and one that is unlike any other media agency network. From a radical challenger proposition that started in 1990’s London with a headcount of four, PHD’s unique positioning as a leader in creative communications planning has evolved globally and today we are over 3,000 employees in over 80 countries and work with some of the world’s largest advertisers.  We’re delighted that the founders and alumni are joining us to celebrate 25 years of keeping the founding principles of innovation, creativity and thought-leadership alive.”
